Peggy Joyce Cartwright was born on February 14, 1955, to the late parentage of William and Ella Mae Wiley in Ferris, TX. Her early childhood was spent in her hometown of Ferris, while often visiting her grandmother in Crockett, TX. She received her education in the Ferris Independent School District, graduating from Ferris High in 1973.
Peggy accepted Christ at a very young age; she joined Greater Lighthouse C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Elder R. C. Willis in Ferris, TX. Upon moving to Dallas she joined Truevine M.B.C under the Pastoral Leadership of the late Rev. A. A. Robertson. She remained a faithful member of this fine church until her demise, serving in great capacity: President of the Mission and Women?s Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Citizen Board and Youth Worker Advocate. Peggy loved the Lord, and she displayed it through her walk, her talk, and her smile. Even in her illness, she continued to bless the Lord and tell others of His goodness.
Peggy was truly one of a kind, to know her was to love her. She was a good caring person, one who possessed a desire to help others in their time of need. Peggy?s passion to help others eventually led to her career choice of Nursing. She received her Nursing Education from Skyline and El Centro College. She went on to work for Parkland Health and Hospital Systems for over 25 years.
On January 23, 1975, she married Eugene Cartwright and to this union two children were born: Shakeia and Stephanie Cartwright.
