He attended the Crockett public school and acdepted Christ at an early age.
He married Lessie Faye Massey in 1950 and to their union, 6 sons and 1 daughter were born.
He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Oak Cliff until his health failed.
He is preceded in death by both parents and 2 sons, Herbert Kennard and Timothy Kennard.
He leaves to cherish his memories: The love of his life, wife, Lessie Faye; 4 sons, R. L. Jr., Dwight Kennard (Debra), Michael Kennard and Alvis Kennard; 1 daughter, Ardell Kennard-Taylor (Donald); 1 sister, Ardell Cunningham; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.
