Reginald is the fourth of five children born to the late Katherine Louise Walker- Wilcox and Robert L. Wilcox II in Abilene, Texas on August 5, 1962.
He began his twelve years of schooling with Taylor Elementary School, attended Jefferson Junior High; and completed his education upon graduation from Cooper High School in 1980.
He was actively involved in coaching his sons FFL (Frisco Football League), FBL (Frisco Baseball League) and Hapkido Martial Arts. He personally held a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. His passion and expertise was training dogs. Even though he did not hold a degree in psychology, he counseled and mentored numerous individuals (friends, family and whomever). This was one of his gifts!!!!
Reggie’s mother died at an early age of his life; so, he was surrounded by family members who loved him, who nurtured him, who encouraged him and teachers who saw great potential in him and insisted that “One day, Reggie, we all will have the privilege of reading about you and your contributions to your family, your community and yourself.” Reggie proved our statements to be prophetic.
After high school, Reggie enrolled in DeVry Institute of Technology and earned the Associates of Science in Electronic Technology and Telecommunications Management graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1982, as well as attending El Camino Community College.
He took his schooling seriously and ventured WEST where he got his first promising job at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, CA and worked there for years. It was also at this employment that he met and married the love of his life Deloris Mackey.
He was transferred to Frisco, Texas and continued his employment at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (formerly Hughes Aircraft Company) in McKinney, Texas where his current position was Manufacturing Engineer-Sr.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Technical Management at DeVry Institute of Technology in 1999, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Reg also received numerous awards and recognitions of Excellence in Operations, Quality Control, & Management; just to name a few. The list is far too enormous to list.
Survivors include his wife Deloris; sons Reggie II and Robert Wilcox of Frisco, TX; brothers Robert (Leslie) of Carson, CA; Gregory (Renee) of Arlington, Texas and sister Gwendolyn (Paul) of McKinney, Texas.
Father-in-law; John Wayne Mackey of Madisonville, KY; sister-in-law, Debra Faggins of Goldsboro, NC; Mary Cantey of McKinney, TX; Jessie Wright of Madisonville, KY.
Corrine Hill, Dorothy Wiseman, Alice Whaley (Leon) of Abilene were actively involved along with Robert, their father, in stressing the importance of an education, in demanding respect of self and others, in stressing that actions have consequences, and in seeing that each had a responsibility around the home, and more importantly to eat the food that their oldest brother prepared for them and be thankful. What is so wonderful about our relationships is that they have not forgotten to say 'thank you' in word and in deed and their lives indicate that we did something right for the five of them. There are numerous cousins who feel the same way.
Preceding him in death is his father, Robert Wilcox II (2002), his mother, Katherine L. Wilcox (1969); his brother Jerry Don Wilcox (1985); brother-in-law; Richard Mackey, and mother-in-law; Laura Belle Mackey.
While Reg will be greatly missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors, we celebrate his life and the joy he brought to us all. Rest in Peace!
