R.L. Floyd, a long-time resident of Dallas, Texas passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016. Born June 21, 1926 in Jonesville, TX to Mamie Floyd and J.D. Williams. He was baptized at an early age and joined Boggy Baptist Church in Waskom, TX.
Later he moved to Dallas, where he met and married his wife Willie Mae Floyd who preceded him in death. R.L. began a long successful career working for Neuhoff Brothers Meat Packing Plant that spanned more than 25 years. R.L. was a simple man who was caring and giving to all who knew him. He loved to host and entertain and had many wonderful parties at his house. An ardent gardener, R.L. grew a wide range of vegetables that he shared generously with others. For R.L. Floyd, being among family and friends were his great passion and joy.
R.L. is survived by his sons, Dwight Floyd and Jimmy Floyd of Dallas, TX; daughter, Dorothy Moore of Oakland, CA; grandson, Eric Grogans; great-granddaughter, Sonja Grogans; 4 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren also of Oakland; brother, L.C. Floyd of Dallas; special friend, Carolyn Adams; a host of loving nieces and nephews who saw to his needs; and the kind attention of numerous friends and neighbors.
