Roberta Gill Obituary

Roberta was born March 30,1929, in Mangham,Louisiana, to Lawrence and Mary Louis Cleveland. She married Tom Jenkins and started her family in Delhi , LA.

The family moved to Dallas, TX in 1960.  Roberta had a long career as a manager with United Waste Material, from 1961 to 1984.

She was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was honored as the “mother” of that church.

Her passion and creativity were manifested in the 500 handmade quilts she gifted to family, friends, church members, and homeless persons. She also served meals for community members in need. She did these things in service of her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

She is preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Tom Jenkins and John Gill, and her siblings, Willie Mae Straughter, Gladys O’Connor, Odessa Cleveland, and Lonnie Cleveland.

She is survived by her children: Johnny Jenkins, Lula Shivers, Linda Stacey, Dorothy Lee, Tommy Jenkins, Emma Jenkins, Roger Jenkins, Lester Jenkins, Michael, Jenkins, Mary O’Neill, Julia Kirk, and Menukha Khemmaat; and many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
