Rolande Carmen Josency was the daughter of Alsimise Josency and was born in Porto Prince, Haiti, November 5, 1931. Josency was nationalized in the United States as a citizen November 6, 1970. She traveled to the United States with the family of Wardwell and Dorothy Carrol Jones of Dallas, Texas. They brought her with them as a nanny for their daughter Shellie Jones.

Josency graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas, January 27, 1957. She graduated from Bishop College, Dallas, Texas, August 17, 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1965, Josency completed her certifications at Prairie View University in secondary and elementary education, French and Spanish. She spoke both. She received certification in Nursing Aid at Dallas County hospital in 1981. In 1977, she received a certificate as an outstanding bowler in the National league. She did years of teaching in the Dallas School District as a substitute. She was a member of the Dallas Teachers Association.

Josency lived her life to the glory of God. Those who knew her, knew that when she joined Good Street Baptist Church in 1960 that she loved and worked diligently until her health failed. She sang in the Imperial Choir, Ollie Lee Scruggs Choir, she worked in the Ever Loyal Ministry, Virginia Brown Bible Class, Bus Ministry, she was devoted to the Baptist Training Union, an excellent worker in Christian Education in 1987: She completed many Bible classes from 1985 to 1999, Deacon?s Wives Ministry, and she received a distinguished service award from the March of Dimes. She always supported the Haiti Orphans organization, and the NAACP. Every summer she volunteered to work with Greater Zion Baptist Church Vacation Bible School.
On November 6, 1970, she received a certificate congratulating her for Outstanding Service from James M. Collins, M.C., Department of Immigration and Naturalization, Washington, D.C.
Josency loved music: Singing hymns and songs of praise, anytime and anywhere. She had a generous love and compassion for people and their needs. Especially volunteering for all in the church and community. She enjoyed teaching children. Her love reflected in everything she did. It was her blessing in life to love, to be proud, and give service to the Lord. She loved sports, especially bowling. She was an humble and gracious servant. Being mission minded she memorized and recited many verses of the scriptures through the years. Her love was daily devoted with God and Sunday?s training union at the church. As a certified aide to nursing she was truly dedicated to humanity.
There are no known relatives. She will be missed by her church family and many friends.
