Roy Lee Jones Sr. was born on July 28, 1940, in Waxahachie, Texas to the parentage of Eithan Sonie Jones & Doshia Olivia Garrett Jones. He was the second oldest child of three sisters and two brothers

Deacon Roy Jones confessed his faith at an early age at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church down in Gravel Slue, Texas. He was ordained as Deacon under the leadership of Rev. J. P. Johnson. He faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Financial Secretary, member of Usher Board & Choir President.  He was also a member of the Spiritual Echoes of Ferris, Texas and sung in both Federated Choirs in Lancaster and Ferris for over 40 years.

Deacon Roy Jones was educated in the Seagoville School District & Graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1955 as Salutatorian of his class.

December 1, 1962, he married the love of his life Lena Louise (Sargent) Jones and to this union was born five lovely children; Valrie Elaine, Stephanie Olivia, Roy Lee Jr., Railo Eithan (deceased) & Barbara Louise.

Deacon Roy Jones worked as a Warehouse Supervisor at the Canada Dry/Dr. Pepper for 30 years; for 10 years he worked as Assistant Warehouse Manager for Southland Corporation (7-11) and retired from the DISD as Facility Supervisor in 2005 after 10 years of service.

Deacon Roy Lee Jones Sr. transition from earth to glory on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 @ 12:23 pm. Both of his parents, his son Railo Eithan, three sisters Vera Lee Richmond, Deloris Moore, Mary Helen Jones, and one brother Donnie Ray Jones proceeded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory Beloved & Faithful Wife of 59 years Lena Louise Jones, his Brother Michael DeWayne Jones Sr. (Harriet). Children Valrie (Christopher Sr.),

Stephanie, Roy Lee Jr. (Chandrel) & Barbara (DeWayne Sr.). Twelve grandchildren, Daniel (Breshae), Christopher Jr., Michael, Felipe, Derrick, Jamal, Chenille, Eithan, Lawyer, DeWayne Jr. (Michelle), Christian & Leamon. Nineteen Great-Grand Children who loved them some ‘Pa-Pa’! Daughter-Of-Love Lisa Jarvis, many Family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of Friends.

Louise called him “Honey”

He called her “Baby”

Stephanie called him “Honey Bun”

He called his Grandchildren “George”

He called his Nieces “Blackie”

Jones Nieces & Nephews called him “Uncle Bubba”

Sargent Nieces & Nephews called “Uncle Roy Lee”

Lisa & Toni called him “Red”

He was known as “Hands” in High School
