Life Reflections

Sherry Denese Newman was born on September 26, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Calvin Earl Newman and Aggie Brown Newman. She was born in the old Parkland Memorial Hospital. She was the third child of seven. She attended Albert Sidney Johnston Elementary School, Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School and was a proud member of graduating, Class of 1975 of Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School.  She graduated in the top ten percent of her class.

Sherry participated in the drill team and was cheerleader. She was crowned “Miss Roosevelt” that year.  She was known for wearing a crown during their class reunion celebrations.

She pursued her higher education at University of Texas in Austin, graduated in December of 1978 with Bachelor of Social Studies. She later attended Texas Women’s University; received a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1988. Sherry continued for many years improving her work ethic by getting varies certifications in computer technical learning skills.

Sherry worked as an independent contractor for years with major corporations on the locally level and throughout the US and overseas.

Sherry was an avid conversationalist and reader.   She loved people and her dog, George.

Sherry has been a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church since the Newman family moved to Skyline Heights area back in the early 60’s. She has served as an usher since childhood; has worked with varies projects in the church.  She was faithful attendee of Sunday School. She was a great positive encourager to her nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Sherry leaves to cherish her memories: her sisters, Annie Joyce, Linda Gale; brother, Marshall Ray; nieces, Malecia A. Green, Adrienne R. Green; nephews, Christopher Robin, Michael A. Green(Brittani), Kenneth Clark; brother-in-law, Michael A. Green, Sr; grandnephews, Zeke, Devin and Cameron and host of other relatives and numerous friends.

Her parents, Calvin Earl Newman, Aggie Brown Newman; her sister Camillia Renee Green and her brothers, Arrie Earl Newman and Calvin Lamar Newman preceded her in death.

To her lifelong friends: Jean Craven, Elnita Fennell and Cynthia Minor

She was greatly loved and will be missed tremendously
