Valente Martinez

October 22, 1948 — April 5, 2025

Isabel, Juan, Dalia, Sophie y Natalie.

Y 12 bisnietos: Aaliyah, Chris, Abram, Jaelynn, Jacob, Melanie, Yanga, Olivia, Rosalie, Giovanni, Judah y Theodore.

In the congregation of Santa Gertrudis, Coahuila, on October 22, 1948, the fourth child of Nicolás Martínez and Cruz Moreno was born, and they named him Valente Martínez Moreno. Valente would often talk about his childhood and recall his experiences working in the fields, taking care of animals, and learning about life on the ranch. His love for his parents, siblings, grandparents, and all his family was evident through his time with them and the stories he shared, which each sibling has of him. He grew up and lived on his beloved ranch throughout his childhood and early adolescence before emigrating to Monclova in his early youth at the age of 17 to start working. It was in the city of Monclova where he met Margarita Valdés Castro, with whom he united his life in marriage in 1970 and fathered six daughters. He lived in the El Pueblo neighborhood in Monclova and worked full-time at Altos Hornos, while also working part-time in other jobs. After working at Altos Hornos for over 30 years, he retired and decided to bring his family to the United States in 1993. He settled with his family in the city of Dallas, Texas, where he lived for the rest of his life. He became a grandfather at 44, and over the course of 24 years, he saw the birth of his 16 grandchildren. Valente was always attentive to his family, to his parents, siblings, and to his wife's family as well. He was a hard-working provider for his family, and very much loved. God called him to His presence on April 5, 2025, and he lifted his hands to the sky and said "Amen" as he gave his life to the Lord. We know that our father, Valente, now rests from the sufferings of this world beside the Almighty.

He is survived by his six daughters: Delia, Elia, Martha, Flor, Violeta, and Berenice. In addition to 16 grandchildren: Valente Antonio, Emmitt, Chris, Edgar, Leslie, Ashley, Elia, Julio, Aline, Adamaris, Amber, Isabel, Juan, Dalia, Sophie, and Natalie.

And 12 great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Chris, Abram, Jaelynn, Jacob, Melanie, Yanga, Olivia, Rosalie, Giovanni, Judah, and Theodore. Valente was greatly blessed throughout his life, and we thank God for giving us all this time with him. May he rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
