Varie was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she was 97 years old.  She was born in Forney, Texas to Valta and Jack Wilson. The family moved to Dallas, Texas when she was a year old.  She was the oldest living child, her older sister, Mae Lee had died earlier at two years old of a childhood illness.  She had four other siblings,  brother Charles, sisters Emma L. Hall, Doris A. Williams, and Betty R. Adams, who predeceased her. She was educated in the Dallas Independent School District.  In 1946, she married James H. Medlin and celebrated over 40 years of happiness until his death.  During their marriage, she attended and graduated from a Nursing Vocational College, receiving  her  degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.     When she took  the Texas State License Examination, her test score placed her in the "top 10 %" in the State of Texas. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, becoming a member soon after her marriage to James in 1946.  As a faithful member of the church, she held many positions and served on many committees.  She was a member of the Senior Choir for 15 years, Women's  Mission, and served as Superintendent of Sunday School for over 25 years. She worked as a Surgical Nurse (Operating Room Technician) for 30 years, retiring from East Dallas Hospital, Dallas, Texas, at the age of 65.  She is survived by a daughter, Nancy K. Myers (William) of San Bernardino, CA   and five nieces and nephews, whom she raised after their mother died:  Nina L. Woods-Tennyson (Derrick), Stephanie G. Robinson (Jimmy), Rodney H. Woods (deceased) Timothy Adams (Kathy), and Tracy (Phyllis).  Other survivors include Jacqueline Wheeler(Joseph), Peter Williams, Lance Williams, Helen Hall, Ronnie Jackson, Chi Woods, Brittanie Robinson, and numerous other grand nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
