Veta was born in Dallas, Texas on November 17, 1959 to the parentage of Rev. Ulysses Mathis and Sis. Rose Mathis.
Veta graduated from Skyline High School and continued her education at Dallas Baptist University where she received her Master’s Degree.
Veta accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. David Robertson and she continued to serve the Lord in the ministry of songs until 2014 when her health started to decline.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Judy Mathis.
Veta leaves to cherish her memories: Her loving husband, Roosevelt Frazier; son, Jermaine Jones; praying sisters, Nannie Mims, Jan Mills, Vernell Stewart, LaDawn Mathis and Taria Sharp; strong brother’s, Bobby C. Nelson, Yoland Mathis and Willie M. Freeman Jr.; four grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Annie Durham, Rosemary Couts, Wanda Frazier, Loretta Givens, Faye Frazier; brother-in-laws, Ray Frazier and Demetrius Frazier; special aunt, Sophronia Phillips; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
