Willie D. Davis Jr. was born July 13, 1941, in Tyler, Texas, to Mrs. Mattie B. Davis and Mr. Willie D. Davis Sr. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and received his education in the Dallas Independent School Distinct. In addition , he attended Lee College and the Video Technical Institution Of Dallas, Texas, where he earned his Video Technical Diploma.
Willie came to know Jesus Christ and received Him as his Lord and Savior at New Generation Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and Sunday school teacher. His church home was Rocky Springs Baptist Church where Clarence Johnson is the pastor. He was a man of faith who enjoyed hearing and studying the Word of God daily.
Willie married the love of his life, Charlotte Williams, his "Honey", and built a wonderful life together for 33 years. He was a loving and dedicate husband, an awesome father, grandfather, and great-grand father who was full of wisdom and knowledge. He always tried to be there for his family and friends to offer words of encouragement to help them along the way.
He was a man of integrity who believed that your word is your bond, and if you say you going to do something, then you should do it. He lived by that. He possessed and excellent work ethic. He often said, " You don't get no more out of live what you put into it" He went to work everyday and gave his best shot. Willie worked for Air Borne Express/DHL and served as Union Steward for Teamsters Union Local 745 for many years until he retired.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie B. Davis and Willie D, Davis Sr., and his sister Dorothy "DOT" Davis.
On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, God called Willie D. Davis Jr. to his eternal rest. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte M. Davis; son Remone Durham (Roshun); five daughters, LaBrigette Phillips, Alma Smith, Trinette King, Enola Franklin (Damon), and Kimberly Jones; three brothers, Charles Davis, William T. Davis, and Bobby Joe Davis; two sisters, Doris Pendergrass and Sharlie Mae Davis; thirteen grandchildren, five great grand children, and a host of nieces nephews, relatives and friends.
