Mr. Willie T. Hines, was born in Bryan Texas on December 28, 1947. He was born to Rev. W. D. & Theresa Gillespie-Hines.
At an early age his family moved to Dallas.He accepted Christ and joined West Dallas Christian Church formally Puget Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Willie (Brother affectionately called by the family) received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District where he was active in football and track.
Upon graduating; from Booker T. Washington, he attended Ranger Junior College where he received a football scholarship.
He married Trudie Jean Turner, of Dallas Texas, in 1968.To this union, three sons were born.
Willie began his career in Roofing in 1967 in Dallas, TX.He later moved to Los Angeles California, where he became one of the best journeyman roofers in the Los Angeles area. Willie loved the roofing profession, subsequently, he became self-employed where he founded and managed H&A Roofing Company serving Los Angeles County and its and surrounding areas; he was one of the BEST.
Willie was active in his union and in the community. The young men in the neighborhood looked up to Willie?s leadership. He was the ?Boss? (so many of them would call him that). He would talk to the young men to keep them out of trouble. And He kept the young family men in the neighborhood busy. Those who wanted to work didn?t have to look very far. Willie always extended his helping hand to those in need. He was not afraid of anybody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. W.D. Hines & Mrs. Theresa Gillespie-Hines; his younger brother, James Edward Hines; his younger sister, Patricia Ann Hines-Wedgeworth.
He is survived by his children: Marcus (Vicki) Jackson, Dallas, Texas; Willie T. Hines, Jr.; Long Beach, California; Marlan D. Hines, California; Donald Wayne Hines, Dallas; and Kerry James Edwards Hines, Dallas. Surviving sister Rev. Ruby Faye (Rev. Derry) Hines-Henry, Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: De?aris, Brianna, Marcus Jr., Taamar and Victoria, all of Dallas, Texas; Tammy Wade, friend; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
