Herman Moore

July 16, 1943 — August 1, 2020

On July 16, 1943, the late Matriacrch (Estella) and Patriarch (Richard) of the Moore Legacy, welcomed their new baby into the world..Herman Denard Moore.

Herman was the 7th of the 11 children born to this union. In the Moore home, everyone was expected to contribute to the household. So, at an early age Herman began working on his father's farm where his strong work ethic, and dedication were formed. Having eight sisters and two brothers equaled many appetites. It was during this time, that his mother's self-taught culinary expertise was quickly passed along.

Herman had a thirst for knowledge. So school wasn't that difficult for him. He was determined that he would excel in life. Getting a diploma would be the first step in making this reality. Herman attended Washington High School in Groesbeck, Texas. His giant stature and skill set made him legendary. He was a beast on the football field as a tackler and a captain. After graduating in 1960, Herman decided to further his football pursuit, at Wiley college in Marshall, Texas. Under the leadership of Coach Hardin, the Wiley College Wildcats would play their rival, Prairie View A&M University, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. This was a much-anticipated event for Herman and his teammates. He could not wait to dominate the field..and he did!

Herman fell in love with the city and after college, he made Dallas his home. He worked many jobs from selling shoes to selling insurance. He finally made a career at Coca Bottling Company. He started as a driver and eventually moved into the managerial realm. Drinking any other product than Coca Cola was not the real thing. During his 45 years there, Herman earned countless accolades and Coca Cola products would be the only beverages, that he would let quench the thirst of anyone around him.

In his leisure time, Herman enjoyed playing basketball, shooting pool, bowling, and coaching baseball and football. However, nothing gave him greater satisfaction than BINGO!

Herman also continued tackling in another arena..the kitchen. Baking, cooking, and BBQing were like a breath of fresh air for him. He absolutely loved preparing dishes for anyone with an appetite. He excelled in the kitchen and his food was truly scrumptious and undoubtedly top notch.

July 28th became an essential date for Herman. A True Essence of Love formed. God blessed him with the union to his kindred-soul, Irma.

They cherished each other with friendship, loyalty, respect, and God as the foundation for their marriage. Herman and Irma blessed the world with 7 children. From attending games to parent meetings, settling arguments, and wrecking cars, their love for their children never wavered. Forgiveness, Love and keeping God first were their life lessons to them all.

On Earth, Herman was a gentle giant with a heart of pure gold. To know him was to undoubtedly love him. On August 1st, 2020 God granted Herman access to heaven. A strong, smart, compassionate, humble, kind, and near perfect gentleman is now a well-deserved angel!
